Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Large Dogs 21-40kg Yellow
Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Large Dogs 21-40kg Yellow by Valuheart
Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Preventative is designed to offer an affordable option to control heartworm disease, without compromising on safety. Valuheart contains Ivermectin, the leading active ingredient in monthly heartworm prevention medication.
Valuheart prevents heartworm disease in dogs by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilia immitis) that may infect the dog in the month (30 days) before treatment. Valuheart is not effective against adult stage Dirofilia immitis, but treatment may reduce the number of circulating microfilariae to undetectable levels.Valuheart packaging is colour coded according to size (dog’s weight in kilograms) to make identifying the correct packet simple. The tablets are scored and the Ivermectin is evenly distributed throughout for easy and accurate dosing.
Each tablet contains:
- Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Small Dogs - BLUE (up to 10kg / up to 22lbs): Ivermectin – 60µg (micrograms)
- Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Medium Dogs - GREEN (11-20kg / 23-44lbs): Ivermectin - 120µg (micrograms)

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
The proper dose should be given at monthly intervals (stickers are enclosed with each packet that can be used on your calendar/diary as a reminder of when to give the tablet). The tablets may be offered by hand or added to the food. The tablet may be wrapped in food to encourage consumption. The dog should be closely observed for several minutes following administration to ensure that the entire dose has been consumed. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, redosing is recommended.
The initial dose must be given within one month of the first exposure to mosquitoes. However, Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets also control heartworm infection when treatment is initiated up to four months after exposure to infected mosquitoes, provided monthly treatment is continued for at least 12 months. The final dose must be given within one month after the last exposure to mosquitoes.
Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets can be used in puppies from 6 weeks of age. If changing to Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets from another heartworm preventive product, the first dose of Valuheart must be given within one month after the last dose of the former medication.
Consult a veterinarian if your dog has not previously been on heartworm prevention medication or if there has been a lapse in your dog’s preventive program. Dogs should be tested and be free of adult heartworm and microfilariae prior to starting heartworm prevention.
Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets are not effective against adult Dirofilaria immitis, but treatment may reduce the number of circulating microfilariae to levels that are undetectable. A mild hypersensitivity reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae, and particularly involving a transient diarrhoea, has been observed in clinical trials after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae.
When used as directed, Valuheart Monthly Heartworm Tablets have a wide margin of safety for dogs of all breeds, including stud dogs, breeding bitches (including pregnant and lactating) and puppies 6 (six) weeks of age and older.
All dogs in mainland Australia, whether “inside” or “outside” dogs, are at risk for heartworm infection, regardless of their breed, age, sex or habitat.
Heartworm is spread through mosquito bites, so the bigger the pool of untreated dogs, the greater the risk of spreading the disease further. Where there are mosquitoes, there is heartworm. Heartworm disease is a serious illness that can be fatal to dogs. Even treated dogs go through weeks of discomfort while the worms are killed and expelled from their bodies.
Unless your dog is using a regular heartworm preventative, it could contract the disease. Heartworm is preventable and prevention is simple. Prevention is the wiser and safer choice to avoid heartworm disease in your dog.
